How to figure out miter angles
For two equal pieces, half the measured included angle is the geometric starting point. Real success comes from translating that geometry to the saw scale and fitting the joint under actual installation conditions.
Measure the space the finished pieces must occupy.
The included angle is the opening between the two finished directions. Measure at the material location, not somewhere else on a wavy wall. An inside corner near 90 degrees may read 88 or 92; that difference is enough to open a long trim miter.
